Men in the UK will be able to buy Viagra over the counter after consulting with a pharmacist and without a prescription for the first time today.
ViagraConnect manufacturer, Pfizer, estimates more than a fifth of men aged over 18 in Britain suffer from erectile dysfunction, but almost half of those over 40 have not sought medical help.
The erectile dysfunction drug will be available in 14,000 stores across Britain and via pharmacy websites.
The tablets will be available exclusively from Boots until 10 April.
Those aged 18 and over will be able to buy the tablets following a conversation with a pharmacist or after filling out an online form. Men can ask to speak to a pharmacist in a private consultation room if preferred.
The pharmacists will determine whether treatment is appropriate for the patient and give advice on erectile dysfunction, usage of the medicine and potential side effects. They will advise men to consult with their doctor no less than six months after buying Viagra so that any potential underlying conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, or heart disease can be investigated.
A Boots spokesperson said that the man affected by erectile dysfunction should buy the drug themselves wherever practically possible.
Men with severe heart problems, those at high risk of heart problems, liver failure, kidney failure, strokes or those taking certain other medicines, will still need to be prescribed the drug under the supervision of a doctor.
A four-pack of the tablets will cost £19.99 and an eight-pack £34.99.
Men who buy it will be advised that they can take a 50 mg tablet an hour before having sex, but should not use more than one pill a day.
Viagra is is already available as an NHS prescription free of charge for those eligible not to pay for their prescriptions.
The pharmacist will decide how many packs will be supplied in a transaction.
The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) announced in November it was to steer men away from buying the tablets from. In 2016 £17m worth of unlicensed and counterfeit Viagra was seized.
Kristie Sourial, Pfizer’s medical manager, said: “It’s important to remember that erectile dysfunction is a medical condition, and that the impact often goes beyond the physical symptoms – it can lead to men feeling anxious, depressed and lacking in confidence.
“Our hope is that the availability of Viagra Connect in pharmacies will encourage men who do nothing about their erectile dysfunction to seek help, and encourage those who are inclined to seek help to do so sooner.”

Viagra is an erectile dysfunction medication that contains sildenafil citrate and is used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED). Viagra is used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED). Viagra is also used to treat other medical conditions, such as pulmonary arterial hypertension, and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
Viagra works by inhibiting an enzyme called phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5), which is a type of blood vessel tissue that helps relax and widen blood vessels. By blocking PDE5, sildenafil increases cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) levels in the body, which is the main substance that relaxes and widens blood vessels.
Viagra works by inhibiting the phosphodiesterase type 5 enzyme (PDE5), which is responsible for degradation of cGMP. This allows cGMP to accumulate and cause blood vessels to expand and relax, which reduces the blood flow to the penis. This makes it easier for the body to achieve and maintain an erection.
Viagra comes in tablet form and is taken orally by mouth. You should swallow Viagra whole with water, and ideally, you should take Viagra about one hour before planned sexual activity. It’s best to take Viagra about 30 minutes before sexual activity.

Sildenafil for men: A Comprehensive Guide
The most common question patients ask about sildenafil is if it makes them feel more relaxed and relaxed. In the past, people were often quick to find that the drug seemed to help them get back on their feet more quickly.
But as with all medications, sildenafil has its own set of side effects and is not always safe for everyone. Here’s a comprehensive guide to what sildenafil is and how it works, and how to choose the right one.
Sildenafil is the brand name of the medication sildenafil citrate, or “Viagra.” It works by increasing blood flow to the penis, which can help men get and maintain an erection. The active ingredient in Viagra, sildenafil, works by relaxing smooth muscle in the penis, which helps blood flow into the penis when a man is sexually aroused.
Sildenafil is the generic name for Viagra, a popular medication for treating erectile dysfunction. Sildenafil is effective for a number of erectile dysfunction conditions, but it does not always work as well for everyone. For example, some men experience side effects, such as headaches, dizziness, and visual changes. These are common in men with erectile dysfunction.
Sildenafil also works for the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). By relaxing blood vessels in the lungs, sildenafil can help reduce blood pressure in the lungs and improve exercise capacity in people with PAH.
One of the most common questions patients ask patients about sildenafil is if it is safe to take it with certain medications or health conditions. However, sildenafil can sometimes be dangerous for people who take it with nitrates (often prescribed for chest pain). This is because people who have been taking nitrates for a long time may have experienced a sudden drop in blood pressure.
For this reason, a doctor may recommend sildenafil for people who have a history of heart disease, blood pressure issues, high blood pressure, or high cholesterol. It is also important to note that sildenafil is not a drug to treat erectile dysfunction or the symptoms of an enlarged prostate, as it should not be taken by women who are pregnant or who are breast-feeding.
Sildenafil is not recommended for anyone who has an underlying medical condition that increases the risk of serious side effects. It is also not recommended for anyone who is using nitrates for chest pain or has a history of heart disease or blood pressure issues. It is also not recommended for anyone who has recently had a heart attack or stroke, as sildenafil does not have a long-term effect on heart health.
Sildenafil is not the same as Viagra, Viagra’s active ingredient, which works by increasing blood flow to the penis. Sildenafil is safe for most men and is generally well-tolerated. It is also important to note that sildenafil should not be used if you are pregnant or nursing. It is also not recommended for children younger than six months old.
Sildenafil is not the same as Viagra. It is also safe for people who are taking nitrates for angina or other heart conditions.
Many men are hesitant to discuss their sildenafil with a doctor because of the stigma they may feel about taking sildenafil.
